Project:

P.O.W.E.R.

Role: Concept, Design, Animation and Direction.

I created this promotional video for Eyeball NYC that playfully parodies the motion graphics industry. The concept emerged when the studio was developing their reel and experimenting with the humorous idea that all their sophisticated motion graphics work wasn't actually created with computers, but rather with people in colored body suits that were later composited in post-production.

My contribution was to develop a concept that presented the company through this absurd lens. The result was "P.O.W.E.R." - an intentionally crude, VHS-style corporate video that supposedly reveals Eyeball's "secret" low-tech production methods. The deliberately poor video quality, complete with grainy footage and awkward camera work, creates a stark contrast to the high-end motion graphics Eyeball was actually known for producing.

The piece is structured around the acronym P.O.W.E.R. (People, Office, Work, Energy, Rewind), taking viewers through each element of this fictional production process before ending with the classic VHS instruction to "rewind the tape." The vintage aesthetic and uncomfortable moments throughout sell the premise that this is authentic behind-the-scenes footage accidentally exposing how the magic really happens.

The video was well-received by the studio owner and gained attention on design blogs, demonstrating how effective humor and strategic brand positioning can create memorable content that resonates within the industry.
